A Senior Secondary School 2 pupil of Gaskiya College, Ijora, Saka Ahmed, aka Ejo (snake), who stabbed a 19-year-old SS3 pupil, Saheed Jimoh, to death for punishing him has been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, following his arrest on Thursday evening, Saturday PUNCH has learnt.
But the victim’s uncle has said he believed the boy might have been stabbed with a poisoned knife.
In a photograph of the body of the deceased, our correspondent noticed that Saheed was stabbed in the chest, around the heart region.
Saheed’s uncle, Mr. Shakiru Oluayo, said when he was shown the body of his nephew, he was surprised about how tiny the hole from the knife was
“As you can see, the knife wound is really tiny. I think the knife might have been poisoned.
“Saheed’s parents had handed over everything concerning the boy to me since he was in primary school. They have resigned to fate and refused to talk about his death.”
The police had earlier on Thursday took Saka’s father and six other pupils of the school into custody when he was still on the run.
Our correspondent visited the school on Thursday but could not see the principal who was said to be in a long meeting with investigators on the case.
Police spokesperson in the state, Mr. Joe Offor, who confirmed the arrests, said investigation was still ongoing on the case.

But in the neighbourhood, information emerged that the school has always been notorious for violent fights and attacks.
Few years ago, students of the school had a fight with area boys in the neighbourhood and a number of them died, it was learnt. Area boys involved in the violence were said to have been rounded up by the police at the time.
A resident of the neighbourhood, who identified himself simply as Bashiru, told our correspondent that he first saw Saka with some of his friends as they gathered at the stall of a food vendor around the school prior to the attack.
Bashiru said, “They were discussing but moments later, I saw him talking to the boy that was stabbed. He said, ‘You know how to punish someone, abi?’
“Saka brought out a short knife from his bag and when Saheed saw it, he started running away and Saka ran after him. The boy was even running towards the school when he was stabbed.”
Saturday PUNCH learnt Saheed was undergoing training in furniture making along with his secondary school education.
“We are planning for his graduation this year along with his passing out from secondary school,” his uncle said.
He said he never had an inkling that his nephew could be in any danger because he was never involved in any fight.
The death of Saheed underlines the fact that student to student attacks are fast becoming a dangerous trend in Lagos schools.
Saturday PUNCH reported last September how a 16-year-old pupil of Nawarudeen Secondary School, Jibowu, Lagos, Oluwadamilare Olugbamu, was stabbed by another school boy at the close of school hours during an inter-school fight.
He was stabbed in the leg but the limb had to be amputated because the injury did not heal.
When our correspondent contacted the spokesperson for the Lagos State Ministry of Education, Mr. Jide Lawal, he said the Deputy Governor, Dr. Idiat Adebule, had directed the ministry to make findings on the case and report back to her.
“It would be premature for us to speak on the issue at this point because we are still expecting the report of the school on the incident. As soon as we get a full picture of what happened, we would let you know,” he said.
Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Mr. Joe Offor, said that as soon as the investigation is completed at the SDCI, Ahmed would be charged to court.
